Fiddle World

WOW -- I can't tell you just how much I'm loving Adam's Bow! The control, the tone -- it's absolutely indescribable! I thought my CodaBow was good... but THIS bow puts it totally to shame.

I was getting so frustrated -- I just couldn't seem to pull good tone no matter how hard I tried. Then I got my hands on Adam's Bow... and my world changed.

THANK YOU Adam and Emily -- and ALL the people who voted for me to win this bow. It's made all the difference!!

BLESS YOU ALL!

Percy - I'm very interested. What is "Adam's Bow?" I think I found it once, where Adam and Emily posted their website, but FW is so un-commercial I can't find it again. Is your bow a particular model of bows Adam and Emily are offering?

PS - Did you find any sessions yet in Rochester?

Jeremy, here's a link to the bow page: www.emilysviolinco.com

You can also read more about it on my home page: www.adamrsweet.com/mybow.html

Thank you for the feedback, Percy. I'm starting saving right now!

Just adding a note -- it took me about a week of playing to get used to it -- so if you do try it, give it a bit of time.

Percy, what was it exactly that you needed to get used to? Is it the weight? Or the balance of the bow? Or both? Does the carbon bow have a different weight to the bow (coda) that you were using - if so, is the carbon bow lighter in weight or heavier?

The weight is probably the same -- just a bit of difference in the distribution (and it's a good thing)... But it's just that the distance between the hair and the shaft is different -- so I was hitting adjacent strings more often then normal. It took a few days to adjust for that... but now it's great! Well, as great as I can be at the moment.

And the CodaBow is a carbon fiber -- but I have the Aspire which is the low-end version... so I don't want anything to think that CodaBows aren't good... just that Adam's bow works better for me than the Aspire (or my brazilwood bow).

Percy, I had a similar experience with mine. It, like any new bow, does take a bit of getting used to. I found it to be a bit bouncy until I relaxed the tension some. (I've been playing some pretty stiff bows) I do like the tip weight and the fact that the hair ribbon is the same from frog to tip. From the git-go I could play it pretty well choked-up, but it took a spell to get used to the length as I have been playing a shorter bow. My old favorites are still in the case, but Adam's bow is getting the lion's share of the playing time!

Hi Daryl. I'm glad you like my bow. Some people "get it" right away, some people take time to fall in love with it, but everybody I know has made some positive comment about it.
