i want to play the electric violin, but don't know of any places, i live in harborne/birmingham.
would be good if anyone could tell me where i could go and tell me the price.
there is an electric violin group here that may better help you with this, there are so manny to choose from,as well as u have options of a bridge pickup on a regular accoustic,i personnally have 2 fender electrics for silent night practice and for amp performance but since i bought them electrics have come a far way, expect to spend no less than 500 bucks on a decently made unit of any kind there are several cheap junk ones on ebay i had bought for the 1 to 150 range and had such horrible quality fittings they just fell appart, i wish you the best but please do your homework and read up b4 ordering offline money is truely hard to come by these days, there sadly arent too many shops around here ither !
Yeah, I had to buy mine online...without playing it first...but it turned out okay. But what might be okay for me, might not work for you. Best thing you can do is look online for the closest dealer to you, or just buy online. I really don't recommend buying something without playing it first, at least an hour or so...but sometimes, that isn't possible. There are several specifics you need to ask yourself...Do I want a full blown electric sound, or more acoustic?..Do I need a professional quality instrument, or should I get a cheaper one to start with?...etc...I have seen them from $200 to over $5,000...Shar has a nice, varied selection, and if you call them, they have an electric violinist on hand and are pretty helpful in getting you what you need. http://www.sharmusic.com or just type Shar into your browser.
They have the now discontinued Yamaha 120 at $599 USD (about 376 GBP). I have the 120 and really like it. But the new 130 has some great features. I guess it all depends on your budget...
Hey Christopher...I always wanted to know...how acoustic do those violectras sound? I play a yamaha 5 string, which was advertised as "acoustic sounding" but falls a little short as far as I'm concerned...
