Pat, in this context, forage caps, also called "bummers", were used to collect foods such as potatoes, berrys, eggs ect. when in the field.

Hi Spry,

Yes that is the gut strung fiddle. I bought the chair at an antique flee market and I'm sure it was restored.
I only use it for historical events.
