I have really been enjoying some of the Swedish and Finnish tunes that our fiddle group has been playing lately. Something spooky about those scandinavian waltzes....

Aisha,
To answer your question about Dollywood, it can be fun playing there for a while. The HUGE down side to it is that they do not pay you much for doing it. They pay less than the thater shows in Pigeon Forge pay, and Dollywood keeps you tied up all day for that smaller paycheck. I am married with two children and live a simple lifestyle, but had to work three jobs (while working at Dollywood) just to scrape by. However, on a positive note, it's a really good place to visit :)
Hey there! It's very possible that we might have ran into each other. I have played in churches all over the country (tons of them in Chattanooga, BTW), I played at The Smoky Mountain Jubilee in Pigeon Forge, Tn for 20 years, and played at Dollywood for several years too. You look sort of familiar to me too, but I can't quite put my finger on it. God bless you Aisha!
thanks Aisha....will be in Md. til the end of month, so will try and get together early Sept. Won't have a lot of time to fiddle there...will be keeping the boys(12 & 10) busy. See you later. xx
hi Aisha...always good to have you join us...working on the Fig music..tricky devil. Need some more advice with where to slur...Also glad you reminded us of what a fun piece Miss Sheppard is..love going from the G to the E. Got a new electronic tuner from Robert for my B'day. Hooks right on the fiddle and is sooo accurate. bfn xxxx
Hi Aisha..I received your Tupelo Tunes today...Thanks a lot...I really love your version of Nancy also Westphalia Waltz...I love all of the little insects and the fiddling kittys..It is such a happy book..Thanks for sharing the joy again...
No, unfortunately, it isn't mine. This is just a photo of one that I found online. I just wanted everyone to be able to see this beautiful instrument with all its ornate design. I also posted a video so that everyone could see and hear them being played in something akin to their traditional Norwegian setting. Enjoy!
