Lover of all that is fiddle! .......I fell in love with classical violin until the seventies and switched to guitar --- singing folk songs was more fun to me at the time. My fiddle got put in the attic for many yrs until I met my ex. He was taking guitar lessons so I started to take lessons from Marty Kaufman. I loved playing bluegrass not only because I am from the South, I also loved getting together to play with others. I started playing out more and more and liked it. Stage fright has always been a problem but it's getting better!
My son developed a love for the mando and when he was age 5 we started a family band - The Reeds - we played together for about 18 yrs until divorce unfortunately happened. During that time I also played with the band White Lightning out of Golden, CO - we played a variety of texas swing, bluegrass, and blues. I have now moved to a small town in VA and I am looking for people to jam with. Lots of good music around here - just have to find jam closer to my home that is not on a Monday night - great jam in Smyth County on Mondays but I have to work on that night.
I look forward to meeting more fiddle players!

I don't believe in
Saying one style of music is better than another.......not learning or listening to others........that you have to have an expensive instrument to play well.....that you have to have private lessons to play well.....saying someone is to old to learn to play fiddle...
Some of my favorite things are
playing oldtime, playing blues, playing bluegrass, jamming with friends, listening to my son play, fishing, the feeling I get when I have finally learned a tune I have been wanting to play, learning to pluck the big bass strings after I have just sat down the fiddle, drinking sweet tea, listening to a variety of fiddle music, talking with other fiddlers!

I know Brad's scheduled to teach at Rocky Mt. Fiddle Camp in August. You can find information at http://www.rmfiddle.com/artists_2009.htm. He told me he's at Montana Fiddle Camp next year
His home page seems to have lapsed and been taken over by somebody else. He used to have a schedule there.
Hi Donna, nice to be friends, thank you! I enjoyed the chat the other day where we already ''met'' :) that really was the first time that so many were online I think.
Well, Donna, as a "lover of all that is fiddle", you've found a supportive and informative community here at FW! To your end of Virginia from my end of Canada, a hearty welcome!
