Just wanted to add to the list of recording resources - a friend of mine told me about The Library Congress site of the Henry Reed collection - nice selection of him playing some old time tunes as well as transcriptions and recordings of him talking…
Saying one style of music is better than another.......not learning or listening to others........that you have to have an expensive instrument to play well.....that you have to have private lessons to play well.....saying someone is to old to learn to play fiddle...
New bluegrass jams in Abingdon, VA. Tuesday nights at Withers Hardware on Main Street from 7pm to 10pm and on Thursdays at the Senior Center from 7pm to 9pm (musicians meet around 5pm to find common songs to play). Come join us!
ya got irish and cajun going on,its alot,tomarrow will be a major thing with the abita opry porch,we than get free tickets to watch the 2 hour show than a big jam afterwards,next week looks like i may be playing a fair somewhere with the cajun guy and got the two other jams in between that,its been really busy,just trying to play as much as i can and learn what i can from the others,i have lots going on,things have been looking up,wishing you the best !
